We manufacture and distribute Intrinsically Safe (Ex) flashlights for hazardous areas, reflectors, professional flashlights, remote lighting systems for open areas, special beacons, industrial LED strips, and others. We provide solutions with modern and efficient LED lamps of the latest generation.

With bases in Brazil and the US, we have global operations and we have agile and integrated Logistics. In The US are located in Florida with stock and complete infrastructure and easy access to airports, ports and roads.

With more than 40 years of experience, knowing the needs of the market, we’ve launched our own brand RACLITE a few years ago, aiming to bring quality, efficiency, safety and innovation in solutions for different applications. FOUNDER HISTORY

One life, one example

Mr. Adair Dutra

Grupo Racco history is confused with its founder, Mr. Adair Dutra. Born in São Paulo in 1943, an orphan, he was raised by the Salesian priests at the Orphanage Lyceum, in Campinas (São Paulo Estate City), where he learned the craft of tool making, and the mania for doing well, a principle he added to his character.

At the age of fifteen, the limit age for staying at the orphanage, he left to São Paulo, where he had no relatives or acquaintances, a different situation from the other members of the group who left the orphanage for the same circumstances and occasion. When they disembarked, everyone had her to go, except him. His first night in São Paulo was spent on a square bench, a situation that, wandering, was repeated for another 354 days. His faith in Godkept him from the illicit ways of survival. And, certainly, by a latent force that only manifested itself many years later.

There was many obstacles he had to overcome in his attempt to get his first job: obtaining a work license was one of them, since his identification documents had been kept in Campinas, at the orphanage, and there was no money to go and get them. Due to the lack of a fixed address, as he lived on the street, it was impossible to use the Post Office as way to receiving them.

Determined and aware that the solution would come only because of the strength of his work, he began a path that included overcoming obstacles in the relentless pursuit of dreams that the difficulties faced in his daily life could not erase. Even the circumstantial fact of having, in a bar, one of his “jobs”, turning crates into bed, to sleep.

As a book seller at “Baú da Felicidade” that he was successful in sales activities. Before, however, he had been a toolmaker at Ford, a seller of telephone book ads and even won a Volkswagen as a prize for being the “salesman of the year”.

In 1973 he joined MSA’s (Mine Safety Appliances Co. – Pittsburgh)new branch in Brazil at the invitation of his general manager, Mr. André Magalhães to work in the ABC region of São Paulo, where he worked for more than five years. In this period, he graduated in Law. Based on the evaluation of his work in São Paulo, and because of the existing potential in Minas Gerais State, MSA offered him the condition of being his representative in the State. He moved to Belo Horizonte, where he opened Racco Comércio e Representações Ltda. The activities was developed from one of the rooms of a rented apartment. While doing visits into the entire state winning customers, adapting products, conducting training, his wife Maria Antônia reconciled the activities of secretary receiving and making calls, taking orders, with homework and childcare.

The transfer of its headquarters to a 35m² rented room in 1980, has represented an advance.

The realization of a dream: own headquarters

The solidity of an ethical and competent work combined with the beauty of a pure and clean character, Dutra’s attributes, were represented by its own headquarters, builtin an 2,000m2 area. “We have to be the best; the customer has to feel confident in our company ”he proudly said to his collaborators, during the opening ceremony, in 1986.

Keeping true to the principles adopted by its founder and based on a cautious expansion program, Grupo Racco aggregates, day by day, values represented by services, products and competent and trained professionals for the development of its action programs. In fact, training people, especially Safety, health and hygiene professionals was one of the actions that Dutra practiced naturally and happily, in an atmosphere of the most legitimate relaxation.

The certainty that the improvement of a person through well-guided learning and the security that this represents in the life of those who seek success and professional affirmation, in Dutra’s conception, was the seed that, when germinating, gave rise in 2000 , Racco Support Center, Racco’s training center.

This division consisted of space for renting rooms for training and business events, offering all the necessary infrastructure for their realization, including rental equipments and coffee break service.

In 2001, once again demonstrating his passion for teaching, he created the electronic newsletter Infoseg, a pioneer in its segment, with the aim of providing updated technical information on various topics related to hygiene, health and safety at work. Published monthly, Infoseg had more than 20,000 readers.

The setback

The first teaching that nature gives us, when we rise by the spirit above contingencies, is that everything is cyclical. Everything presents itself to us in the majestic form of the cycle with the accuracy of its turns that nothing can prevent or change.

The human being, who is the image of the universe, is driven by identical laws. A typical example of this cycle, always renewed, is reflected in the four ages of man: childhood, youth, mature age and old age. Dutra had only the first three to demonstrate the level of evolution achieved this time. For those who knew him, he left the example of overcoming, devoting himself to work and the permanent search for improvement. And the power of faith.

In 2004, after a prolonged battle with liver cancer, he died.

His successors, his sons Fernando, Paula, Keko and his wife Maria Antônia, are the heirs of his character, dignity and some material goods, among which Racco is not included. Racco is not a material good, but a feeling driven by love and the deepest respect for an achievement.
